“Arak” (liquor) is an alcoholic spirit which was founded in the Arab and Mediterranean countries: Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Turkey and Israel.
The name “Arak” in Arabic means “sweat” which it was given due to the distillation process it goes through, with steam and droplets. This includes the distillation and fermentation of grapes and dates, mixed with droplets of dried anise seeds or leaves, which give the Arak its unique taste.
Arak is a clear, colorless drink, with an alcohol content of 40-80%.
