Pale Israeli lager, made of 100% European hops, with 5% alcohol and also in a stronger version with 7.9% ABV.

Maccabee Beer was first manufactured in 1968 and received 4 gold medals in international competitions.
Maccabee's story
Initially Maccabee beer targeted the premium local market and was meant mainly for export. It was named after the Maccabees who fought the Greeks, to convey the Jewish and Hebrew pride when stepping into the global beer market.

Maccabee first hit the shelves in 1968. The recipe was concocted by an internationally known brewmaster from Germany. Maccabee has 5% alcohol and is a pilsner style beer. This style is characterized by clarity, substantial taste and gases in high levels. Maccabee beer exceeded the expectations and won international competitions in 1977 in Luxembourg, Paris 1979, Brussels 1981, and 1995 in Rome. The medals were added to the beer's label over the years.

In 2009, Maccabee went through a refreshing face lift, to create the Israeli ALL MALT quality beer. With the help of global Heineken, Maccabee's recipe was updated based on a formula that has 100% European hops. The bottle and label have been redesigned by designer Philippe Boulakia.

Alongside the new refreshing taste and new packaging Maccabee beer has targeted the alternative community as a new and refreshing community. Maccabee chose to focus on this community of artists and Tel - Aviv hipsters and began to consistently support the alternative fringe culture and underground communities. Maccabee soon became the most popular draft beer in bars and coffee houses that attract mainly hipsters. Within two years, Maccabee doubled its sales, twice, in bars and clubs and quadrupled its number of taps in clubs across the country. Independent survey held by The Marker newspaper stated that Maccabee's image and trademark made the biggest leap in 2010.
Maccabee Home Tour

In 2011 Maccabee launched a new advertising platform called "Maccabee Home Tour", in which famous artists perform in private fans living rooms.

So far Shlomi Shaban, Asaf Avidan and Aviv Geffen have participated in this campaign.

The campaign was highly praised and was introduced by Google in an unusual creative conference called "Google Inspiration" that was held in 2012 in Tel-Aviv.
